First we will answer, why decarb of raw flower is necessary when making edibles.
You can eat raw cannabis flower but you are not likely to feel the euphoric buzz of THC or feel the health benefits of CBD. To make excellent and useful weed butter or edibles with “activated” THC and CBD, decarboxylation is an important step.
*Note: Yes you can make edibles without decarbing but to get the most out of your THC & CBD you should try this method.
Decarboxylation can happen naturally during the baking process, provided your edibles are heated all through to a temperature at, or above 225 degrees Fahrenheit. The problem is tracking the exact temperature and holding it steady for long enough in the process to make true decarb happen.
The fun is always in the testing of your methods. They can take you to new heights in your joy of cooking.
Okay, let’s get stared. All you’ll need is an oven, a baking tray and a bit of parchment paper.

2.Line an oven-safe tray or pan with parchment paper. **Not Wax Paper!
3.Break up the cannabis or grind it so it can lay it evenly on the pan.
4.Place in the oven for about 30 minutes.
5.Remove from the oven and allow it to cool.
This process can also eliminate mold or fungus.

Remove from the oven, allow brownies to cool.
Pour a glass of milk, eat a very small piece, cancel all plans for the evening.
*Notes: If you make the canna butter recipe above with cannabis that is about 14% THC, then each teaspoon of canna butter will have about 40 mg of THC. This means that if you used 4 tablespoons of this canna butter in your brownies, then the whole pan should have about 480 mg of THC.
The recipe makes about 24 2-inch brownies, so figure that’s 20 mg of THC per serving.
**If you’d like a weaker batch, you could use 3 tablespoons of canna butter and substitute a tablespoon of regular butter.
If you’re feeling adventurous you can reverse this equation.
Everyone’s tolerance is different, and how your body responds to edibles has a lot to do with your metabolism and your experience with edibles.
The best rule of thumb is to go slow — cut off a small square of brownie and wait at least an hour and a half and see how your view of the world is looking.
Biggest mistake is to keep eating till you “feel” something by then it will be too late you’ll be a big puddle on the floor. It is not at all like smoking or vaping which places it directly into your blood stream. Happy Cooking!
